Mongolian Ground Beef Noodles

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 10 oz linguine
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 green onions, sliced

  1. In a large pot, cook the linguine according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink.
  3. Drain excess fat from the skillet, then add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well.
  5. In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in 2 tablespoons of cold water. Add the cornstarch mixture to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens and comes to a gentle boil.
  6. Once the sauce has thickened, add the cooked linguine to the skillet and toss to combine. Allow the noodles to sit in the sauce for 2-3 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  7. Serve the beef and noodle mixture topped with sliced green onions. Enjoy!
